The Character of God | Andy Elmes | 22nd December 2024
Ps Andy speaks on The Character of God...
- Jesus stepped into the world 2000 years ago to take the sin of the world so that we could have relationship with Him.
- God came down to Earth to dwell with mankind in bodily form.
- When Mary held the baby, she held the very character of the Father in her arms.
- Jesus revealed the character of God to the world.
- He is loving, kind, trustworthy, just, fair, righteous, patient.
- The character of a person is important because it reveals who they are.
When you know a person’s character you know how they will respond…
- Who God is will determine how He acts.
- We can know what to expect from God.
God’s character is revealed through:
- The Word of God (Bible)
- The Word of God (Jesus)
In Jesus, the fullness of the Father is revealed…
“In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” (Hebrews 1:1-3 NIV)
God’s character is also to be revealed in us!...
- We are called to be people who reveal the character of God.
- We are called to live Christ-like lives.
- Christ has been born in us and we are called to reveal Him in all areas of our lives.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIVUK)
We are called to abide in the Vine, Jesus, so that His life can be revealed in and through our lives.
